Kurt Cobain's Fender Strat up for bidding

The smashed, left handed Fender Stratocaster used by Nirvana front man Kurt Cobain, will be going up for auction. Played on the seminal, ‘In Utero’ tour, the axe was famously destroyed by Cobain one night, when he actually began drilling holes into it right on stage. Along with the guitar (pieces), the winning bidder will receive a DVD of Cobain’s memorabilia, some photos, and what sounds to be the actual drill used in the performance.

Starting at $50 000, the lot is expected to fetch upwards to $70 000. Among other things, also slated for the block is a Hendrix guitar strap. Be sure to check out this historic auction online
