Throwback Thursday: The Bug

Throughout the day i'll be posting some photos I found in our archives. Gonna kick the show off with one of our first retailers. The trunk of a car.

Technically the first car Casual was sold out of was Brendan's Suburu. The Bug was Casual's first offical company car. Dano would drive to La Push with a trunk full of ziploc-ed hoodies and sell them at the coast.

The Bug was deemed "The Mexican Taxi." According to Dano, in Mexico all the taxi's were VW bugs without a passenger seat. This front seat was removed primarily to fit a surfboard and also double as a overnight sleeping space.

I took the photo above while still an intern in 2007. I remember wanting to shit my pants the first time i rode in it. The back seat was down and I held on to a seat belt and an "oh-shit-handle" on our way to Yummy.

As many have read a few days ago, the Bug has seen better days. Dano no longer drives it. It resides in the yard symbolizing our humble beginnings.

Let's not forget, it played a huge part in The Trash Hoop Diaries part 1 and part 2.

We've made an enemy.

3 bags of dog shit and a bottle of piss later...

Although it was a very hateful passive aggressive jester, we couldn't help but laugh our asses off at the situation. Whatever happened to knocking on your neighbor's door and using your words?

Why go through the trouble of peeing in bottle? Why not pee in the car or on the car? It's got to be some old guy who wanted to send a message, but not ruin the mostly ruined interior of the Bang Bug. Dano's CSI skills tells us the perp has a small dog because of the stool size in the bags.

If you're reading this old man, we're not mad. We just want to talk it out in the dark alley behind the Cactus. No guns or blades. Just words.

Members of KISS stopped by to express their deepest condolences.
Thank you Star Child and Catman.

R.I.P. The Trash Hoop

The Trash Hoop has officially been dismantled and turned into what normal people consider a decent basketball hoop. We got our replacement parts in and I spent about 3-4 lunch breaks adding a newer model's pieces to our older discontinued model. It was not awesome.

Phase 1

Extras pieces are never a good sign. Except the parts kit came with stuff I already had.

Valuable Lesson #1: never leave your tools open and exposed to the sun for long periods of time. They will burn your hand. Learned that the hard way. Now i type with my nose and their working on replacing me.

The adjuster pump thingy was jammed and didnt move, so it sat at it's lowest setting.

Good thing our new buddy Dave "The Mullet" Mechanic dude had some solutions to contribute to the cause. Also helped me attach the backboard.

That would be the part that wasn't functioning.

And that's Dave with our new dog, Whiskers.

The Brendo mobile getting some fixins done.

If anyone has a mini trampoline they wanna sell me, hit me up. There's no way i'll ever be able to dunk on this. And that's just unacceptable.

And of course the day after we finally have this project finished, a free (complete) basketball hoop goes up on Craigslist. FML twice.

The Trash Hoop Diaries Part 2

The Trash Hoop 2011 Driveway Series continues while we wait for our replacement parts to come in the mail...

The Trash Hoop Diaries.

The basketball hoop we got for free a couple weeks ago didn't come with any of the connecting bolts. In the mean time, while i'm figuring out all the missing parts we need i invented the Trash Hoop TM. Nike's looks better, but we don't have that kinda petty cash.
